Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is another elected official who is a political whore. I know those are strong words but they are reserved for those who deserve it. Yesterday he called for economic sanctions against the state of Arizona for its new immigration law and today he backpedaled because sanctions would hurt their economy. Really?!?!
Now he is planning on flying to Phoenix to discuss what he describes as an "un-American" and "morally wrong" law with other elected officials. Really... how is it un-American to uphold the Constitution and why is a law that enforces it morally wrong? These are just empty words used to incite people to disobey the law of the land. Where I come from we call that treason.
"This is an example of us taking a step backward," Johnson said. "I want to do what I can do, find a balance and send a strong message...This is a personal issue for me, a fundamental issue of justice..." Again these are just empty words, if he really wanted justice he would be calling for the deportation of all the criminals who crossed our borders illegally.
The mayor said the new immigration law – which requires police to check for immigration status if they suspect a person is in the country illegally – would encourage "discretionary bigotry" and that Arizona needs to be sent a message.
The message has come in loud and clear; we need to shred the Constitution because Johnson doesn't think its relevant anymore. But if some homeless people broke into his home, he would be crying for law and order real fast. No matter how much he says otherwise, this doesn't affect him personally, it's all being done for show and that makes him just another political hack.
The Sacramento Bee reports that it was unclear Wednesday what, if any, contracts the city has with businesses based in Arizona. A resolution removing economic connections with the state would require City Council approval. Some members of the council were supportive of Johnson's pitch. "It might be symbolic, but I think it's an important gesture in standing up to racism, standing up to intolerance and things that are un-American," said Councilman Kevin McCarty. McCarty added that the city should still consider a resolution – even a symbolic one – to cut ties with Arizona.
Is anyone else fed up with these political idiots?
I am sick and tired of the political whores who are denouncing Arizona's new immigration law and calling for economic sanctions and a boycott of anything related to the state.
Whatever happened to state sovereignty? Arizona a is self-governing entity that is part of the united States of America but the federal government which oversees this once great country has been grossly negligent in enforcing the national immigration laws and so Arizona finally decided to do something about it.
Now these spineless, indebted, political whores are screeching about how the local police in Arizona will be required to demand proof of legal status if they suspect a person is an illegal immigrant. They talk about about justice and equality, but what don't they get about "illegal" immigration? These people have not entered the country legally and are therefore criminals! It's that simple. Don't make it about anything else.
Go and cross the border to Mexico illegally, do you think they will be as lenient as the U.S. government has been? We can talk in detail about what Mexican prisons are like when you come back from this little excursion.
This country is in dire need of a revolution to expunge the traitorous political whores that violate the Constitution, fail represent the American people and cater to special interests. Time is slowly running out and I'm afraid most people are so dumbed down that they are just interested in their television. They might look up occasionally only to be fooled by the smoke mirrors of the media and the political parties. Barack Obama is an illegal president who ran his campaign promising change, but it really hasn't been much different than if G.W. Bush was still in office. We need some REAL change.
We need some men to stand up and not only fight for truth, justice and liberty but God as well. Men who won't sell out their convictions, if they have any, to the highest bidder. Dave Daubenmire is one such man who is trying to make a difference in his community and across America. He's not afraid to call evil by its name and that's what we need. We need some men to stand in the gap.
Isaiah 59:1-21
Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
The story is told about a pastor who was into telling stories to the children. He'd bring all the children up, and they'd sit on the floor, and he'd tell them a story. One day he said, "Boys and girls, I want to tell you a story about someone who likes to live in the woods, but sometimes we can see him in our yards. Anybody have any idea who I am talking about?"
No takers. He said, "I want to tell you about a creature that lives in the woods and sometimes in our yards, has a big bushy tail, likes to eat nuts. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?"
No takers. He said, "I'm talking about a creature that lives in the woods, sometimes in our yards, big bushy tail, eats nuts, likes to climb trees, jumps from tree to tree--now, does anybody know what I'm talking about?"
One kid raised his hand to take him out of his misery. The pastor said, "Do you know what I'm thinking about?"
The kid said, "Yeah. I know the answer should be Jesus, but it sounds like a squirrel to me."
I would like to think that the U.S. military is honorable and just but it's full of fallible people who don't always make the best decisions. WikiLeaks has released a classified military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-sight, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of two Reuters employees. The military did not reveal how the Reuters staff were killed, and stated that they did not know how the children were injured at the scene. The incident was investigated and the military concluded that the actions of the soldiers were in accordance with the law of armed conflict and its own "Rules of Engagement".
WikiLeaks obtained this video as well as supporting documents from a number of military whistleblowers and goes to great lengths to verify the authenticity of the information it receives. They have spoken to witnesses and journalists directly involved in the incident. Iraq is a very dangerous place.
During a recent trip to Portland, Oregon, noted atheist Christopher Hitchens laid down some seriously good theology. Most people recognize Hitchens as the author of the bestselling book God is Not Great: Why Religion Poisons Everything. Since the book’s publication in 2007, Hitchens has toured the country debating a series of religious leaders, including some well-known evangelical thinkers. In Portland he was interviewed by Unitarian minister Marilyn Sewell. The following exchange took place near the start of the interview:
Sewell: "The religion you cite in your book is generally the fundamentalist faith of various kinds. I'm a liberal Christian, and I don't take the stories from the Scripture literally. I don't believe in the doctrine of atonement (that Jesus died for our sins, for example). Do you make any distinction between fundamentalist faith and liberal religion?"
Hitchens: "I would say that if you don't believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Christ and Messiah, and that he rose again from the dead and by his sacrifice our sins are forgiven, you're really not in any meaningful sense a Christian."
Sewell wanted no part of that discussion so her next words are, "Let me go someplace else."
This little snippet demonstrates an important point about religious "God-talk." You can call yourself anything you like, but if you don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins and then rose from the dead, you are not "in any meaningful sense" a Christian.
In one of the delicious ironies of our time that an outspoken atheist grasps the central tenet of Christianity better than many Christians do. What you believe about Jesus Christ really does make a difference.
I'm sure you've seen the "idiots" (for lack of a better word) walking around with their pants sagging so low that they couldn't win a foot race if their life depended on it. I really don't care to see the color of their underwear and I try to not to laugh outright at how ridiculous they look at they walk around with their pants nearly on the ground except for the hand that is holding up the precarious situation. I'd offer to buy them a belt but they're already wearing one to no avail. So what can I do? This comic empathizes my feelings exactly.
You won't believe what California school officials found on a classroom wall. Stuart Shepard from Focus on the Family shows you what they ordered a teacher to take down.
While the teachers encourage their students to celebrate diversity and value thinking for one's self, they also apparently fear their students are incapable of dealing with diverse viewpoints that include God's place in American history and culture.
The Bible is a road map that helps us understand who God is and what He has done. It tells the story of paradise lost and the redemption that can only be found in Jesus, all while detailing the human condition. But what if your perspective is wrong in reading and interpreting it? Many people read the Bible but their eyes have not been opened to God's master plan and so they have an incomplete understanding of God. This also negatively affects their children and each successive generation who is molded after their parents. It is your perspective will determine your place in eternity.
A boy was sitting on a park bench with one hand resting on an open Bible. He was loudly exclaiming his praise to God. "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! God is great!" he yelled without worrying whether anyone heard him or not. Shortly after there came along a man who had recently completed some studies at a local university. Feeling very enlightened in the ways of truth and very eager to show this enlightenment, he asked the boy about the source of his joy. "Hey" asked the boy in return with a bright laugh, "Don't you have any idea what God is able to do? I just read that God opened up the waves of the Red Sea and led the whole nation of Israel right through the middle."
The enlightened man laughed lightly, sat down next to the boy and began to try to open his eyes to the "realities" of the miracles of the Bible. "That can all be very easily explained. Modern scholarship has shown that the Red Sea in that area was only 10-inches deep at that time. It was no problem for the Israelites to wade across." The boy was stumped. His eyes wandered from the man back to the Bible laying open in his lap. The man, content that he had enlightened a poor, naive young person to the finer points of scientific insight turned to go. Scarcely had he taken two steps when the boy began to rejoice and praise louder than before. The man turned to ask the reason for this resumed jubilation. "Wow!" exclaimed the boy happily, "God is greater than I thought! Not only did He lead the whole nation of Israel through the Red Sea, He topped it off by drowning the whole Egyptian army in 10 inches of water!"
The moral of the story: Don't try and put God in a box, there isn't one big enough to contain Him.
A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule that fell into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule braying and after carefully assessing the situation, he sympathized with the mule but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.
Initially, the old mule was hysterical. But a thought struck him as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, why not shake it off and step up every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back. This he did blow after blow. "Shake it off and step up... shake it off and step up... shake it off and step up," he repeated to encourage himself.
No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought panic and just kept on shaking it off and stepping up! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well!
What seemed like it would bury him had actually blessed him, all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity. That's life. If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness or self-pity, the adversities that come along to bury us usually have the potential to benefit and bless us!
Remember that forgiveness, faith, prayer, praise, and hope are all excellent ways to "Shake It Off And Step Up" out of the wells in which we find ourselves!
If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I am a Healer?
If you never had to pray, how would you know that I am a Deliverer?
If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?
If you never felt sadness, how would you know that I am a Comforter?
If you never made a mistake, how would you know that I am a forgiver?
If you knew all, how would you know that I will answer your questions?
If you never were in trouble, how would you know that I will come to your rescue?
If you never were broken, then how would you know that I can make you whole?
If you never had a problem, how would you know that I can solve them?
If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what I went through?
If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?
If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?
If I never corrected you, how would you know that I love you?
If you had all power, then how would you learn to depend on me?
If your life was perfect, then what would you need me for?
"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." (John 15:5-11)
Some people say, "If God made me this way then he is responsible for what I do and the way I live." No, my friend -- God only created Adam and Eve and in the beginning they were without sin. But they rebelled against the command of God and now sin has entered into the human race, and all have partaken in sin (see Romans 5).
He tells us in Jeremiah 2:21 "Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?" Man has turned into a strange vine indeed. He is far from the man that God wants man to be. If he, however, will turn to Jesus Christ he can be grafted into the true vine again.
Rep. Hank Johnson, a Georgia Democrat, asked a bizarre question about the island of Guam possibly tipping over on Thursday. The 55-year-old congressman said, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize." For emphasis, Johnson leaned to his left and added hand motions suggesting a large vessel tipping into the sea. Admiral Robert Willard, the head of U.S. Pacific Command who was testifying, paused briefly and offered a deadpan response: "We don't anticipate that. The Guam population, I think, currently about 175,000 and, again, with 8,000 Marines and their families, it's an addition of about 25,000 more into the population."
These are the type of people who are supposed to be representing us? God help us!
Today is April 1st and I would like to honor all the atheists and publicly salute them on this special day known as "All Fools Day." They dully stare around them and declare there is no evidence for God despite the fact that He has manifested Himself in the creation all around us. Sadly most atheists are proud intellectuals that have become fools in their supposed wisdom. They are as grass in the field that is here today but gone tomorrow but these are the Words of the Eternal God:
"Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel. Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish..." (Isaiah 44:23-25)
"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:5-6)
"For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory." (Isaiah 45:18-25)
